Marvel Thomas is currently a photography student pursuing a career in digital retouching. As an aspiring retoucher being able to create compelling visuals and experiment with creativity is essential. Photoshop is chosen as the main creative outlet as this medium provides a vast array of tools and filters to experiment with, in which otherwise such tools may be difficult to acquire or be time consuming in real life.

Additionally, Marvel’s academic background has allowed for her to develop a strong attention to detail and understanding of compositions alongside technical skills in photoshop and lightroom.

The large majority of Marvel’s photography work consists of portraits and urban spaces.

The portraits demonstrate the ability to focus on smaller details such as skin texture, hair, colour correction, blemishes etc., while ensuring the subject’s natural appearance is maintained and their best features enhanced. Whereas in architecture, the focus is on emphasizing the geometric patterns and textures, and ensuring the perspectives are correct to create visually pleasing compositions.

Through the selection of images, Marvel’s work aims to showcase her technical skills in enhancing the visuals of an image, as well as highlighting artistic ability.
